Some of the things we did between Mar 2012 - Feb 2013:
On Your Marks Badges
The girls started the year by doing their On Your Marks Badges, some of the activities they did for this were: making Olympic torches, playing games with a disability i.e. one hand held behind their backs, making gold medals and being awarded them for their positive attributes, making healthy eating posters and making healthy fruit and yoghurt snacks. Later in the year the girls worked for their Number Fun badges this included the girls designing a bedroom with a £500 budget and inventing secret number codes.
Crafts throughout the year included: making cupcake Mother’s Day cards, making friendship circles, making Easter boxes, cards and bookmarks, making Father’s Day cards, making Native American necklaces, designing and making Autumn wreaths, decorating fabric purses, making felt woodland animal finger puppets, making Chinese hand drums, making Christmas tree decorations and stained glass window Christmas cards and making butterfly calendars.
The girls enjoyed a number of evenings with themes such as: Thinking Day, Native America, Groundhog Day, Valentine Day and Chinese New Year.
We held a Bin Bag Fashion show where the girls had to design their own outfits from dustbin bags and a Brownies Got Talent Show.
A number of girls took part in the Ellie Simmonds Parade and the Remembrance Day Parade in Aldridge.
As a District the girls joined together and enjoyed a Jubilee mini games at Beaudesert to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic games.
A few of the girls attended the County Outdoor day which they enjoyed, though we all got very wet!
Some girls took part in a Brownies Holiday at Owl’s Nest, Beaudesert and enjoyed an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ themed weekend. Their favourite part was making and decorating cupcakes and cookies and then eating them at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.
