Some of the things we did between Mar 2011 - Feb 2012:
A selection of Brownie Badges
Brownies had a fun and busy year.
As a unit the Brownies have completed their Speakers and World Travellers badges. They also started working for their ‘On Your Marks’ badges, doing the Culture section first (incl. making Brazilian Carnival Floats from wine boxes and decorating mugs).
Individual badges gained by girls were: Friend to Animal, Swimmer, Toymaker, Book Lover, Cooks, Writers, Brownie Holiday, Brownie Skills and Musician.
Activities and Crafts throughout the year included: making Valentines Day Picture Frames, a Team Building Evening, a French Evening, a Compass Evening, making Mothers Day Cards, making Easter Masks and Easter Cards, making Fathers Day Cards, a Brownies Got Talent Show, decorating T-shirts, a Cake sale to raise money towards the Brownie Holiday, an Autumn Theme Evening, a Circus Theme Evening (incl. making masks), a Rag in a Bag Fashion Show, making Father Christmas Cards, Christmas Angels and Christmas Wind Chimes, making Calendars, Chinese New Year Fan Decorating and making Thinking Day Friendship Circles.
We also had three Promise Party Evenings with themes of Crafts, Balloons and Parachute Games.
Other parties included a Summer party at Crash, Bang, Wallop with 9th Aldridge Rainbows, and a Christmas party in Church.
In conjunction with Aldridge in Bloom we joined with some other Brownies, Rainbows and Guides to plant some trees on Anchor Meadow in Aldridge.
We also had a visit from a couple from Guide Dogs for the Blind who brought in 2 dogs and gave a great talk to the girls, they brought in some items for sale which the girls bought helping to raise money for the charity.
We took part in the Remembrance Day Parade in Aldridge.
A number of the girls filled shoe boxes with Christmas gifts for ‘Operation Christmas Child’ a charity that sends boxes out to children abroad who would otherwise not get any Christmas presents.
We went on a joint Brownies Holiday to Glenbrook in Derbyshire with a ‘Woodland Explorer’ theme. The girls all had a brilliant time.
A couple of leaders ran stalls in Aldridge in July and December to raise some funds for their units and at the December one the Brownies, Rainbows and Guides entertained people in Aldridge shopping centre by carol singing.
