Some of the things we did between Mar 2010 - Feb 2011:
It was a busy year at Brownies as we celebrated 100 years of Guiding, it was a Centenary to remember.
During the year the Brownies completed a number of badges as a unit, including their Artist and Communicator. They also did their Adventure 100 badge, which saw them doing activities such as performing in an X-Factor type show, running their own Brownie meeting and throwing wet sponges!
Individually girls completed a number of other badges such as, Booklover, Swimmer, Swimmer Advanced, Craft, Friend to Animals, Collectors, Musician, Dancers, Environment and Home Skills.
We enjoyed themed meetings such as a Scottish evening, an Australian evening, a Team Work evening, a Healthy evening, a Chinese New Year evening, a Bonfire Night evening and 2 Promise themed evenings.
Crafts as always were a big part of our meetings and we enjoyed making lots of things including items for Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Christmas. The girls also planted hyacinth bulbs.
As a unit we filled shoe boxes with Christmas gifts for ‘Operation Christmas Child’ a charity that sends boxes out to children abroad who would otherwise not get any Christmas presents.
Throughout the Centenary year the girls joined in many activities organised by the District, Division and County, these included; a Thinking Day Event, a float at Pelsall Carnival, the Centenary Launch at Beaudesert, a Brownie Holiday (BASH) at Pwllheli in Wales, the Centenary Finale at Walsall football stadium, the Remembrance Day Parade, a Gang Show and a Christmas Disco.
